How to color the output of tail / cat / stdout with awk

This works in CentOS 6, CentOS 7 and Ubuntu 16.04, 16.04, 18.04

tail -f /opt/gerrit/logs/error_log | awk '
  /INFO/ {print "\033[32m" $0 "\033[39m"}
  /WARN/ {print "\033[33m" $0 "\033[39m"}
  /ERROR/ {print "\033[91m" $0 "\033[39m"}
'

Sample output:
